Aiming for Grade 9

  • The single best resource for revising/learning maths is practice questions. These are best found in past papers, or in question-by-topic banks. Your strategy should be to start early and start consistently doing full past papers.

  • At first, it will be difficult. You shouldn’t expect yourself to get anywhere near full marks. The key is when you mark the paper: find your mistakes, consolidate what you didn’t understand, and do practice questions until you get them correct.

  • It’s a simple system, but often the simplest things are difficult to master. To help you, I have created a “progress tracker” which you can do after each paper to help track what you need to work on.

  • When aiming for top grades, the key is being as thorough as possible. Make sure you have a full and tested understanding for every topic, and have tried some difficult questions on each.

    Good luck!

Recommendation:

  1. Complete past paper

  2. Mark past paper using mark scheme or model answers

  3. Note what topics your incorrect questions were on the progress tracker

  4. Watch a video on that topic and practice using questions by topic until you get them correct.

  5. Repeat.
